E. Fragoso was appointed as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the
Chicago Field Division in July 2016. As an
ASAC, Mr. Fragoso oversees investigative operations for six enforcement groups
situated throughout Illinois and Northern Indiana.
seasoned law enforcement professional and member of ATF management, Mr. Fragoso
began his career as a Special Agent in St. Louis in 1992. Wanting to advance his investigative skills and
help combat criminal gang violence, he transferred to the Los Angeles Field Division in 1996. In 2002, he was reassigned to the Las Vegas
field office as a Senior Special Agent.
Due to his investigative skills and vast experience, he was a member of
the prestigious ATF National Response Team.
Rising through the ranks at ATF, Mr. Fragoso was promoted in 2005 to
Resident Agent in Charge of the Fresno Field Office. In 2008, he transferred to the ATF National
Headquarters in Washington, D.C. as a Program Manager in Field Management Staff
where he provided support and guidance to all ongoing major criminal
investigations. In 2010, he promoted to
Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Field Division. In that role, Mr. Fragoso managed the
enforcement activities in Southern Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin
Islands. In 2012, Mr. Fragoso was
appointed as the Regional Attaché to all twelve countries situated in South
America. In this position, Mr. Fragoso
directed and managed the planning, development and implementation of joint
strategies and tactics to combat the illegal trafficking of firearms and
explosives to South America. Upon completing
his overseas assignment, Mr. Fragoso was named Assistant Special Agent in
Charge of the Detroit Field Division.

Mr. Fragoso was serving as the Chief of the ATF National Investigative Division
at the ATF National Headquarters in Washington, D.C..
1998, Mr. Fragoso was awarded the Federal Bar Association Medal of Valor for
his actions in an armed confrontation with gang members in California. In 2003, he was awarded the ATF Medal of
Valor and the ATF Hostile Action Award for his actions in a deadly armed
confrontation with a former police officer who killed a deputy sheriff.
1992, Mr. Fragoso earned his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Law
Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University. In 2010, he earned a Masters Degree in
Military Studies from the United States Marine Corps University in Quantico,
Fragoso proudly served in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1992. Mr. Fragoso is a native of Chicago, Illinois.
