Ray Ruebenson - Special Agent FBI from 1975-2006

Upon graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia in August of 1975 Ray was assigned to the New York Field Office, specifically to work Organized Crime. This squad was tasked with investigating criminal activity conducted by members of the Genovese Crime Family.   Organized Crime in New York consists of five mafia families and the Genovese Family is the largest in terms of the number of members and associates.  The squad investigated everything the family was involved in from prostitution, murder, loansharking, extortion and kidnapping.  Ray was able to get indictments and convictions of a Captain or Capo in the Genovese family along with made members of his crew for conducting one of the largest bookmaking and nationwide gambling operations in New York.

 In 1980 Ray was transferred to the Chicago field office which was where he was born and raised.

He was assigned to the Labor Racketeering squad in Chicago which pursued investigations of criminal conduct by various Labor Unions in the Chicago area.  Ray's labor investigations lead to indicting union bosses and Gerald Pfeiffer, the Chicago Park District Marine harbor director plus 4 harbor captains who were extorting boaters to obtain plum dock assignments on Lake Michigan. In 1986, Ray began working public corruption cases in Chicago and remained there until the early 1990s when he transferred to the West Resident Agency (WRA) within the Chicago Division located in Lisle, Illinois.

While working white collar crime cases, Ray's heart was always in investigating corrupt politicians.  He began an investigation into an individual named Larry Hall who worked at the Elgin, Illinois Secretary of State facility. The case known as Operation Safe Road resulted in the indictment and conviction of 68 Secretary of State Employees and other individuals associated with these employees, including Governor George Ryan and some of his top associates.

Upon his retirement from the FBI in 2006, Ray went to work at Blue Cross and Blue Shield and investigated doctors and hospitals that purposely overbilled for procedures not performed.  He left that position in 2008. In 2010 Ray was contacted by a former Assistant US Attorney to work for his company which investigates employee misconduct within various companies in the Chicago area.
