Detection and Prevention:  Explosive Chemicals

Chemicals are found in our daily lives, whether it be at work, at home or on the road.  These chemicals alone can be harmful.  However, a slight combination of these chemicals can lead to extremely dangerous chemical reactions.  Learn about the potential dangers and how to prevent them.

Mike Carlson, CPP is certified in fire and explosion investigations and other related law enforcement and fire service areas.  A graduate of the University of Illinois, he attended the John Marshall Law School and the National College of Education.  His post-graduate studies include the Chicago Police and Fire Academies, the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and Fire Service Institute and FBI and ATFE explosive training and counter-terrorism training.  He is the author of the Explosions chapter in the 3rd edition of Fire Investigator.  In addition to ASIS, he is a member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, International Association of Arson Investigators, and the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators.  He is currently president of Probe, Inc. and a police officer serving on the Terrorism Liaison Officer Committee.
