Paul J. Ciolino, a lifelong resident of the Chicago area, specializes in complex criminal defense and fraud investigations. Mr. Ciolino's participation in wrongful conviction investigations has helped free five men from death row in Illinois and led to the moratorium on death penalties.  CBS News Anchor Dan Rather has called Mr. Ciolino "One of America's Top Five Investigators." 



He is licensed private detective in Illinois and is also a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified International Investigator and a board certified Forensic Examiner (Fellow).  His expertise includes debunking experts, investigative ethics, child homicide, sexual abuse, repressed memories, and death penalty investigations.  A U.S. Army veteran, he was chief investigator of the child homicide team for the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services, and currently is an adjunct lecturer at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and Columbia College, Journalism Department as well as a guest lecturer at Yale Law School.  He co-founded and instructed investigative tactics at the first Conference on Wrongful Convictions and the Death Penalty held at Northwestern Law School in Chicago, Illinois.  He has authored and co-authored numerous professional books and articles and appears on many television news shows.  Paul has also received numerous prestigious awards from professional and public organizations. Mr. Ciolino is a past president of the National Association of Legal Investigators, Inc. (NALI), is on the Board of Directors for the Council of International Investigators, and is a past President and Life Member of the Special Agents Association in Chicago.
