With over 30 years of Commercial Real Estate experience, Carlos Villarreal, CST serves as Senior Vice President of Whelan Security.  In his role, he is responsible for overseeing the 10 - Star High Rise Office Security Programs in Whelan's 39 markets across the United States and provides consultative support to hundreds of high-rise, mid-rise, campus and mix-used office buildings across the United States.

Prior to Mr. Villarreal's current position, he served as Vice President of National Security and Life Safety for Trizec Properties.  Mr. Villarreal was instrumental in developing a national platform including comprehensive and state-of-the-art systems and procedures designed to promote the safety and security of Trizec's 110,000 building customers.  He is the former Director of Security at the Sears Tower, now known as the Willis Tower, from 1997 to 2004 and was directly responsible for a six-million dollar capital improvement program to redesign the entire security and life safety program post 9/11.  He has also worked for the prestigious Chicago based real estate development firm, The John Buck Company.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Villarreal is a Certified Security Trainer (CST) with the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.  Mr. Villarreal is the past chair of the Commercial Real Estate Council for ASIS and past chair for the Building Owners and Managers Association's Security Committee.

Given his 30 plus years of industry experience and his involvement in numerous real estate, security and related trade associations, Mr. Villarreal is a frequent writer, speaker and media resource on matters related to national security, emergency response and life safety, ranging from terrorist attacks to natural and man-made disasters.

Mr. Villarreal was the recipient of the BOMA Chicago 2010 Golden Circle Award for his leadership in developing and facilitating BOMA's annual emergency preparedness tabletop exercise.
