Managing an Armed Security Force
Managing an armed security force
requires considerably more thought, preparation and oversight than an unarmed
team. When creating and maintaining a
successful armed security force officer selection, training, equipment,
regulatory compliance, insurance, policies and procedures must all be
considered and addressed carefully. Bill
Leap, CPP, Vice President from Titan Security Services, will focus on these
subjects from an implementation to ongoing management perspectives.
As Vice President of Security
Services at Titan Security Group, Bill is responsible for the development and
implementation of manned and remote security services projects. This includes
security assessments, project management, planning and quality control.
Prior to Titan Security Services, Bill was the General Manager for the Chicago
and St. Louis offices of G4S Wackenhut, a multinational security provider. In 2005, within hours after Hurricane Katrina
devastated the Gulf Coast, Bill was one of the first security professionals
onsite providing armed emergency response and crisis management services in the
New Orleans area.
Bill has achieved
accreditation by ASIS International as a Certified
Protection Professional (CPP). He is also a Member-at-Large of the ASIS
International's Security Services Council.
Bill served in a military intelligence capacity in the U.S. Army with
the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam and 66th MI Group
in Europe. He is a certified firearms
instructor for the State of Illinois and a NRA Law Enforcement Instructor. He holds both Illinois Private Security
Contractor and Private Detective licenses and is a graduate of the Illinois
Institute of Technology.
