ABOUT US

ASIS International (ASIS) is the preeminent organization for security professionals, with more than 33,000 members worldwide. Founded in 1955, ASIS International is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational programs and materials that address broad security interests, such as the ASIS International Annual Seminars and Exhibits, as well as specific security topics. ASIS International also advocates the role and value of the security management profession to business, the media, government entities, and the public. By providing members and the security community with access to a full range of programs and services, and by publishing the industry’s number one magazine – Security Management – ASIS International leads the way for advanced and improved security performance 

  

The Illinois North Shore Chapter of ASIS International is an active and growing chapter. Currently there are approximately 250 Members from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Members represent all areas of Security & Safety, including service providers, equipment manufacturers & representatives, consultants and more.  

  

Illinois North Shore members pay no local dues but are required to be a member of ASIS International. We come together every month for a dinner meeting that includes a seminar where dynamic speakers present pertinent security or safety information to the attendees. Non-Members are welcome to attend our meetings.

Our Vision

Provide member advice on security and asset protection systems, policies and procedures for the greater Chicagoland public and private sectors

Promote the advancement of security profession practitioners and the education of all members working toward Professional certifications

Educate 

Provide networking opportunities where security professionals in both private and public sectors can connect, share information and develop business relationships.

Meeting Information

Monthly chapter meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month. The meetings include a guest speaker on a topic related to security, risk management, loss prevention, law enforcement, homeland security and other topics of interest

Registration: 5:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
    Dinner: 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
   Meeting: 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Steve has provided security services to some of the most prestigious companies in the United States, overseeing clients, officers and managers to ensure the delivery of service.

About me

Marina earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College and is a Spanish native speaker.  She currently holds office as the Director of Training and Development with the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analyst (IALEIA), Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst Lifetime, a Foundations of Intelligence Analysis Training (FIAT) Instructor, and IALEIA Land of Lincoln – Past President. Marina is currently working on her MBA at Lake County Forest Graduate School of Management.

About me

Nicole Velez is a skilled security professional with over 15 years of industry experience. As a U.S. Navy veteran, she served as a Master at Arms, gaining expertise in access control, anti-terrorism, investigations, crisis management, and executive protection. Nicole has excelled in command center environments, coordinating event operations at Wrigley Field as a Security Supervisor for the Chicago Cubs. Currently, she works as an Intelligence Analyst for AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, utilizing her knowledge to mitigate and anticipate global threats to business operations.
